    Fred T. Finney focuses his practice on business, estate and tax matters.

    In business matters he advises clients in business sales, acquisitions and mergers, spinoffs, corporate and LLC formations, business disputes, and business operational issues such as contracts, leases and employment issues. He also assist with commercial and agricultural loans.

    In his estate practice he handles estate planning for all size estates, including trusts, family limited partnerships, powers of attorney, probate and estate administration, guardianships and conservators, will contests and elder law issues.

    Both of these areas of practice also overlap into the tax area. Mr. Finney handles tax planning for businesses and individuals, IRS audits and tax cases for income and estate tax issues, tax planning for trusts and estates, tax litigation for both the IRS and Georgia state tax issues. In addition, Mr. Finney assists clients with tax liability issues including tax settlements. He is experienced with preparing income and estate tax returns as well as handling audits, tax appeals and tax litigation. He is also experienced with IC-DISC for export clients seeking tax savings.

    Mr. Finney has been a member of the firm since 2004. In addition, he has served as chairman of the Lee County Development Authority for a number of years. In 2004 he was selected as Volunteer of the Year by the Georgia Economic Developers Association and in 2010 he was selected as Man of the Year by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce. In addition he has served on client’s boards of directors and on the boards of church and charitable organizations. He is married to Debra B. Finney who serves as the area director for the UGA Small Business Development Center.
